Volunteer
Volunteers help make Garfield an even better school. There are many ways to contribute your time and the school is grateful for any time you can give.
School events and programs
- Visit our GHS volunteer registration page to complete the school and district application steps. We know the process can be a little confusing but please don’t be deterred! If you get stuck or have any questions, email volunteering@garfieldptsa.org so we can help you.
- The Seattle Public Schools volunteer forms include a background check which is required for most volunteer activities in the school building. Note: most school-based volunteer activities at Garfield fall under “Category A” as described on the SPS webpage.
- Keep an eye out for volunteer requests, which may be sent out either by the school or by the PTSA. Examples include helping with school photo/student ID day, proctoring AP exams, chaperoning school dances and events, or serving as a tutor.
Other opportunities
- The PTSA periodically posts volunteer opportunities on Signup Genius such as donating food for staff appreciation that do not require completing the SPS application process.
- PTSA positions are a great way to get engaged and meet other families. If you have questions, email president@garfieldptsa.org.

Watch for announcements
Both the PTSA and Garfield staff will announce volunteer needs through email messages, websites and other channels. Make sure you are signed up for the PTSA eBark emails and if you use social media, follow the PTSA Facebook page and Garfield Families Facebook Group.
Thank you for your interest in volunteering!
