Your PTSA Donations Support Student Clubs

The Garfield Building Leadership Team (BLT) last week approved grants of up to $300 for student clubs, drawing on the PTSA Small Grants Fund. 

The money will support events and activities of the following cultural/affinity clubs: Black Student Union, Vietnamese Student Association, Japanese Student Association, Razas Unidas and Filipino Club, and joint efforts of the Asian-American associations (representing all Asian-heritage populations, including Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander).

In addition, the grants will help cover tournament and other expenses of the Chess Club, the Debate Team and the Trivia Club. And the Garfield Green Team/YESC Earth Corps will purchase compost bins with lids to place in classrooms.

The BLT, which is composed of administrators, teachers, staff, and PTSA and student representatives, also helps guide decisions on the school’s District-provided budget and advises the leadership team on other matters.
