GHS Sophomore Wins 2024 NW Student Emmy

NW Emmy logo 2024Garfield sophomore Lusa Wilder recently won a 2024 Student Emmy for Photographer in the annual NATAS (National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences) Northwest competition. Participants in Garfield’s Video Production Program had received 10 Student Emmy Nominations, more than any other high school. Congratulations!

Teacher Jacques Pugh noted the number of nominees is significant because the region includes schools in Washington, Oregon, Alaska, Idaho and Montana. “And we did it with just an iota of equipment and production budgets,” Mr. Pugh said. “We have very talented students, some of whom, no doubt will be working in the Video-Film-News industry one day.”

The students attended this year’s NATAS NW Emmy Ceremony in June, where the winners will be announced and the nominees recognized. The students will also get a chance to meet and greet professionals working in the local TV arena.
