Marine Science Field Trip
Each year, Mr. Jonathan Stever takes his Marine Science students on a field trip to low tide at Golden Gardens Park. This month, students were especially delighted to see the return of sea stars.
Mr. Stever has taught Marine Science at Garfield for over 25 years! The first semester of the course is focused on physical oceanography: origins of the ocean and life, plate tectonics, navigation, water chemistry, ocean acidification, weather, waves, tides and currents. The second semester is focused on marine biology with an emphasis on organisms of the Pacific Northwest.
Thank you, Mr. Stever, for your work to raise environmental awareness and knowledge among Garfield students!
