Mme. Lidgard is from West Seattle and attended Bishop Blanchet High School. Her interest in French was strong enough to lead to a major at UW, and she also got her Master’s in teaching at UW. She finds studying languages gives you the advantage of other perspectives and knowing French helps you understand a variety of areas of the world such as Africa, where it is spoken.
She wanted to teach in Seattle, and loves being at Garfield! The students are hard-working and enthusiastic, the teachers genuinely caring and the community very positive.
Her advice to students is to step back from pressure and stress, take a deep breath and realize that everything will be okay! Enjoy outside activities to help with balance and perspective.
