PTSA has a 2025-26 role for you

volunteers needed text graphicCalling all parents/caregivers!  The Garfield PTSA (Parent Teacher Student Association) is actively seeking parents/caregivers who can help fill essential roles and continue to strengthen our community for the 2025-2026 school year.

Many of these roles only require an average of  2-4 hours per month (Advocacy, Parent Grade Reps, Sports Boosters) while some are concentrated at different parts of the year with little to do at other times (Open House, Fundraising, Grad Night), so participation is manageable for busy parents. Most of the main executive roles have already been filled, though we are still looking for a Co-President.

Your time and commitment, however small, are truly essential. Join us and be part of making a meaningful impact at Garfield.

Current openings (updated 5/25/25) include:

Co-President (1) — This would be a couple hours a week, but joining a strong exec team.  Ideally looking for a current Freshman or Sophomore parent.

Grad Night (2) — Help organize a safe and sober Graduation night. “Grad Night” is the PTSA-supported party for all seniors immediately after the Graduation ceremony.  These two positions would join an individual who worked on this year’s Grad Night.

Advocacy Chair — Coordinate advocacy (overseeing Race and Equity, Safety and Special Education). Possible sub-areas for advocacy coordination:

  • Safety Chair
  • Race and Equity Chair
  • Academics/Special Ed Chair

Annual Fund Committee — Encourage participation in the Annual Fund. The Chair position is filled; currently looking for members to round out a committee.

Sports Boosters Committee — Seeking members for this affiliate of the PTSA.

Open Houses Coordination (winter, summer) — Work with the school and PTSA leaders to organize these events.

Finance Chair — Leads annual financial review.

Spring Fundraiser Committee — Help with Spring Fundraiser.
Class Reps — Plan grade-level social events for parents and caregivers.
  • Grade 9 Rep
  • Grade 10 Rep
  • Grade 11 Rep
  • Grade 12 Rep

Don’t be shy!
