YMCA Earth Service Corps Annual Environmental Leaders Summit
On Thursday, December 8, YMCA Earth Service Corps will be hosting its annual Environmental Leaders Summit. This year the event is once again in person! This is a unique opportunity for participants to collaborate across generations and geography.
What happens at the Summit?
This event is a launching point for youth action and provides an opportunity for students from across the Puget Sound to share ideas and learn from others in the environmental community. Participants will take part in four round-table discussions centered on environmental topics that are moderated by a professional from the environmental field. Afterwards, they will enter a town-hall style discussion to share ideas and actions that address these environmental issues. During a break for lunch, students and adults can network and follow up with each other. Finally, an Opportunity Fair where local youth-serving organizations will share volunteer opportunities, internships, and events for high school youth will conclude the event.
This year student selected table topics will include Waste Streams, Climate Change, Food Systems & Agriculture, Environmental Justice, Marine Health and much more. The last Summit gathered over 200 participants representing high schools across Western Washington. Please find a flyer here that provides further details.
