Free Oct. PSAT for GHS Juniors
Garfield juniors will be taking a free digital in-school PSAT exam on a day between Oct. 16 and Oct. 31 (date yet to be announced). The PSAT is often referred to as a practice test for the SAT college entrance exam taken later in the junior year or as a senior. A top score on the PSAT can lead to college tuition assistance through the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
The school will handle registration for all students, and other information will be announced in September.
- Students with a 504 plan or IEP who wish accommodations (extra time, etc.) must submit a request to the College Board. Deadline: Aug. 28 (if test is Oct. 16-20) or Sept. 5 (if test is Oct. 23-31). More info.
- Garfield parent Emily Lieberman has experience with the accommodations-request process and can be contacted for support.
- The District offers further information about the test and preparation for it.
- After 2021, Seattle Public Schools stopped providing a free PSAT test to sophomores.
Note: Seniors will take a free in-school SAT on Wednesday, Oct. 11.
